The following intensifiers often go together with comparative adjectives<\/span>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n much\n <\/td>\n a great deal\n <\/td><\/tr>
\n far\n <\/td>\n a good deal\n <\/td><\/tr>
\n a lot \n <\/td>\n a good bit\n <\/td><\/tr>
\n quite a lot\n <\/td>\n a fair bit\n <\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

They are much<\/strong> richer <\/em>than us.
This pair of shoes is far<\/strong> more expensive <\/em>than that bag.
Madrid is a lot<\/strong> bigger<\/em> than Sevilla.
It’s quite a lot<\/strong> calmer<\/em> now after the storm has passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The intensifiers much <\/strong>and far <\/strong>are used with comparative adjectives before a noun<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UK is a much<\/strong> bigger<\/em> country than Japan.
He is a far <\/strong>better<\/em> tennis player than Federer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
