Nouns are people, places, and things. Most nouns are concrete nouns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to know if something is a concrete noun because you experience it through one of your five senses: <strong>sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch<\/strong>. If you cannot see, hear, taste, touch, or smell the person or thing, it is not a concrete noun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the sentence: <strong>&#8220;Can you answer the phone ?&#8221;<\/strong> the noun <strong>phone<\/strong> is a concrete noun: you can touch it, see it, hear it, and maybe even smell it or taste it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the sentence: <strong>\u201cWhat is that sound?\u201d<\/strong><br>Even though <strong>sound<\/strong> can\u2019t be touched\u2014and the sound may even be coming from several places\u2014you can hear the sound, so it\u2019s a concrete noun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are other examples of concrete nouns and sentences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sight<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>cat &#8211; The cat is purring.<\/p><p>Eric &#8211; Eric is my classmate.<\/p><p>bag &#8211; This red bag is mine.<\/p><p>water &#8211; Please give me that glass of water.<\/p><p>group  &#8211; This is a big group of students.<\/p><p>vegetable &#8211; I don&#8217;t like vegetables.<\/p><p>man &#8211; I saw the man on the street.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hearing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>shout &#8211; I heard his shout.<\/p><p>Fly Me to the Moon &#8211; I like the song Fly Me to the Moon.<\/p><p>bark &#8211; The dog&#8217;s bark is so loud.<\/p><p>music &#8211; I like the music.<\/p><p>whisper &#8211; I can&#8217;t hear her whisper.<\/p><p>noise &#8211; The noise is too loud.<\/p><p>sound &#8211; I don&#8217;t like that sound.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Taste<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>fried chicken &#8211; I love eating fried chicken.<\/p><p>Cadbury Chocolate &#8211; My favorite chocolate is Cadbury Chocolate.<\/p><p>cupcake &#8211; Can I have a cupcake?<\/p><p>medicine &#8211; Did you buy the medicine?<\/p><p>beer &#8211; I like the taste of beer.<\/p><p>ice cream &#8211; I like eating ice cream in summer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Smell<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>flower &#8211; You smell like a flower.<\/p><p>Prima Ketchup &#8211; I prefer Prima Ketchup than others.<\/p><p>perfume  &#8211; I like the smell of your perfume.<\/p><p>horse &#8211; This room smells like a horse.<\/p><p>aromas &#8211; I enjoyed the aromas in the restaurant.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Touch<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>skin &#8211; Your skin is so soft.<\/p><p>Merino wool &#8211; Merino wool has really good quality.<\/p><p>pennies  &#8211; Give me some pennies, please.<\/p><p>baggage &#8211; The baggage is so heavy.<\/p><p>chair &#8211; This chair seems sturdy.<\/p><p>puppies &#8211; The puppies have short fur.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Level: Beginner-Intermediate Concrete nouns are simply those nouns that can be experienced physically.
