Son <strong>aquellas frases que nos permiten hablar de un posible resultado de algo que pudo suceder en el pasado, puede ocurrir en el presente o podr\u00eda ocurrir en el futuro.<\/strong> Estos posibles resultados parten de una condici\u00f3n inicial que debe darse para obtener ese resultado. Existen cuatro tipos de condicionales en ingl\u00e9s, hoy estaremos hablando del <em>third conditional<\/em> (tercer condicional). Recuerda que dominar los condicionales es b\u00e1sico para avanzar en tu aprendizaje del ingl\u00e9s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Antes de comenzar te invitamos a leer <a href=\"https:\/\/phoneenglish.es\/blog\/2020\/10\/condicionales-en-ingles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Los condicionales en ingl\u00e9s y sus tipos<\/em><\/a><em>. <\/em>As\u00ed tendr\u00e1s una idea m\u00e1s clara de las funciones de las cl\u00e1usulas condicionales. \u00a1Comencemos!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-third-conditional-el-tercer-condicional\"><em>The <strong>Third Conditional <\/strong><\/em><strong>\/ El tercer condicional<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El tercer condicional es aquel que nos permite hablar de <strong>algo que pudo haber ocurrido en el pasado<\/strong> y que  sus consecuencias o resultados se hubiesen dado si la condici\u00f3n hubiera ocurrido.&nbsp; C\u00f3mo ver\u00e1s, este tipo de condicional se enfoca en situaciones hipot\u00e9ticas e irreales, ya que no sucedieron y ya no suceder\u00e1n. Es por eso que tambi\u00e9n se le conoce como el condicional imposible. Veamos los principales usos que se le dan al tercer tipo de condicional:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Para hablar de situaciones en el pasado <strong>que no ocurrieron <\/strong>y cu\u00e1les hubiesen sido sus consecuencias si se daba esa condici\u00f3n.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Para expresar <strong>arrepentimiento o lamento <\/strong>de algo que no sucedi\u00f3 en el pasado.<\/li><li>Para hablar de <strong>oportunidades perdidas.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-estructura-gramatical\"><strong>Estructura gramatical<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Al igual que los dem\u00e1s condicionales, la estructura gramatical del <em>third conditional <\/em>est\u00e1 formada por la cl\u00e1usula condicional &#8211;<em>if <\/em>y por la cl\u00e1usula del resultado. El tercer condicional tiene tambi\u00e9n una estructura afirmativa, una negativa y una interrogativa. Veamos cada una a continuaci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-estructura-afirmativa\"><strong>Estructura afirmativa<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-background-color has-accent-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><strong><em>IF + PAST PERFECT + PERFECT INFINITIVE<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si la frase comienza con <em>if <\/em>debe siempre agregarse el verbo <em>have <\/em>conjugado en pasado, <em>had. <\/em>Por ejemplo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>If I <\/em><strong><em>had<\/em><\/strong><em> won the scholarship, I would be studying in another country. \/ <\/em>Si yo hubiera ganado la beca, estar\u00eda estudiando en otro pa\u00eds.<\/p><p><em>If she <\/em><strong><em>had<\/em><\/strong><em> spoken English, she would have had a better job. <\/em>\/ Si ella hubiera hablado ingl\u00e9s, habr\u00eda tenido un trabajo mejor.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n se puede&nbsp; usar <em>could<\/em> cuando queremos decir que algo habr\u00eda podido ser posible. Por ejemplo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>I <\/em><strong><em>could<\/em><\/strong><em> have passed the exam if I had studied more. <\/em>\/ Podr\u00eda haber aprobado el examen si hubiera estudiado m\u00e1s.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando no tenemos la certeza de cu\u00e1l hubiese sido el resultado de una acci\u00f3n, tambi\u00e9n podemos usar el <em>might<\/em>. Por ejemplo:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>He <\/em><strong><em>might<\/em><\/strong><em> have got the job, if he had come to the interview earlier. <\/em>\/ \u00c9l podr\u00eda haber conseguido el empleo si hubiera&nbsp; venido antes a la entrevista.&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-estructura-negativa\"><strong>Estructura negativa<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Para hacer oraciones negativas con el tercer condicional, solo debes agregar <em>not <\/em>despu\u00e9s del <em>had<\/em> <em>(hadn&#8217;t)<\/em> en la cl\u00e1usula condicional.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If clause:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-background-color has-accent-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><strong><em>IF + SUJETO + HADN&#8217;T + PARTICIPIO<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Result clause<\/em> \/ Cl\u00e1usa resultado:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-background-color has-accent-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><strong><em>SUJETO + WOULDN&#8217;T \/ WOULD + HAVE + PARTICIPIO<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ejemplos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>If I <\/em><strong><em>hadn&#8217;t<\/em><\/strong><em> spent the money, I <\/em><strong><em>would<\/em><\/strong><em> have bought the book that was on sale. \/ <\/em>Si no hubiera gastado el dinero, habr\u00eda comprado el libro que estaba en oferta.<\/p><p><em>If I <\/em><strong><em>hadn&#8217;t<\/em><\/strong><em> studied, I <\/em><strong><em>wouldn&#8217;t<\/em><\/strong><em> have passed the exam. \/ <\/em>Si no hubiera estudiado, no habr\u00eda pasado el examen.<\/p><p><em>If I <\/em><strong><em>hadn&#8217;t<\/em><\/strong><em> spent my savings, I <\/em><strong><em>could<\/em><\/strong><em> have traveled. \/ <\/em>Si no hubiera gastado mis ahorros, habr\u00eda podido viajar.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-estructura-interrogativa\"><strong>Estructura interrogativa<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Para formar preguntas con el tercer condicional, debes seguir la siguiente estructura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-background-color has-accent-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><strong><em>QUESTION WORD + WOULD + SUJETO + HAVE + PARTICIPIO PASADO + IF + SUJETO + HAD + PARTICIPIO PASADO<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>Would<\/em><\/strong><em> you <strong>have come<\/strong> to my house<\/em><strong><em> if<\/em><\/strong><em> I <strong>had invited <\/strong>you? <\/em>\/ \u00bfHabr\u00edas venido a mi casa si te hubiera invitado?<\/p><p><strong><em>Would<\/em><\/strong><em> you <strong>have studied<\/strong> more<\/em><strong><em> if<\/em><\/strong><em> you hadn&#8217;t been working?\/ <\/em>\u00bfHabr\u00edas estudiado m\u00e1s si no hubieras estado trabajando?<\/p><p><em><em>What <\/em><\/em><strong><em><strong><em>would<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><em><em>&nbsp;you<\/em><\/em><strong><em><em> have learned&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>if<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><em><em>&nbsp;you<\/em><\/em><strong><em><em> hadn&#8217;t studied <\/em><\/em><\/strong><em><em>journalism?<\/em><\/em><strong><em><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/em><\/strong><em>\/ <\/em>\u00bfQu\u00e9 hubieras estudiado si no hubieras estudiado periodismo?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Ahora que conoces c\u00f3mo se formulan las tres principales estructuras gramaticales de este tipo de condicional, te dejamos m\u00e1s ejemplos para que practiques y entiendas mejor el <strong><em>third conditional<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em>en ingl\u00e9s<em>:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>If<\/em><\/strong><em> she had told me, I <\/em><strong><em>would<\/em><\/strong><em> have helped him. \/ <\/em>Si me lo hubiera dicho, le habr\u00eda ayudado.<\/p><p><strong><em>If <\/em><\/strong><em>I hadn&#8217;t fallen asleep, I <\/em><strong><em>wouldn&#8217;t <\/em><\/strong><em>have missed the flight. \/ <\/em>Si no me hubiera quedado dormido, no habr\u00eda perdido el vuelo.<\/p><p><strong><em>If<\/em><\/strong><em> we had more free time, we <\/em><strong><em>would <\/em><\/strong><em>have practiced more for the game. \/&nbsp;<\/em>Si hubi\u00e9ramos tenido m\u00e1s tiempo libre, habr\u00edamos practicado m\u00e1s para el juego.<\/p><p><strong><em>If<\/em><\/strong><em> she hadn&#8217;t been late, we <\/em><strong><em>would<\/em><\/strong><em> have seen the movie. \/ <\/em>Si ella no hubiera llegado tarde, habr\u00edamos visto la pel\u00edcula.<\/p><p><strong><em>If<\/em><\/strong><em> he had studied architecture, he <\/em><strong><em>would<\/em><\/strong><em> have been a great architect. \/&nbsp;<\/em>Si hubiera estudiado arquitectura, habr\u00eda sido un gran arquitecto.<\/p><p><strong><em>If<\/em><\/strong><em> I had been a good student, I <\/em><strong><em>would <\/em><\/strong><em>have won a scholarship. \/ <\/em>Si hubiera sido un buen estudiante, habr\u00eda ganado una beca.<\/p><p><strong><em>If<\/em><\/strong><em> she hadn&#8217;t fallen in love, she <\/em><strong><em>wouldn&#8217;t<\/em><\/strong><em> be suffering. \/ <\/em>Si ella no se hubiera enamorado, no estar\u00eda sufriendo.<\/p><p><strong><em>If<\/em><\/strong><em> I had not studied at that university, I wouldn&#8217;t have met my current wife.<\/em> \/ Si no hubiera estudiado en esa universidad, no habr\u00eda conocido a mi actual mujer.<\/p><p><strong><em>Would<\/em><\/strong><em> you have lived in another city <\/em><strong><em>if<\/em><\/strong><em> you had the opportunity? \/ <\/em>\u00bfHabr\u00edas vivido en otra ciudad si hubieses tenido la oportunidad?<\/p><p><strong><em>Would<\/em><\/strong><em> you have gone to the game <\/em><strong><em>if<\/em><\/strong><em> you had been invited? \/ <\/em>\u00bfHabr\u00edas ido al juego si te hubieran invitado?<\/p><p><strong><em>Would<\/em><\/strong><em> you have studied English before <\/em><strong><em>if<\/em><\/strong><em> you had the opportunity?
