There are some nouns<\/strong> that are always in singular form<\/strong>. They are uncountable<\/strong> and do not have a plural form<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do not<\/strong> use the articles – a\/an<\/strong> before them but if they are particular<\/strong> we can use the article – the<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are used with singular verbs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

advice<\/td>baggage<\/td>homework<\/td><\/tr>
information<\/td>luggage<\/td>furniture<\/td><\/tr>
knowledge<\/td>dust<\/td>traffic<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

My homework<\/em> was<\/strong> very easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The luggage<\/em> is<\/strong> heavy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their information<\/em> was <\/strong>helpful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special case: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of these nouns end in -s <\/strong>and -ics <\/strong>they may be mistaken for plural nouns. They are in the singular<\/strong> and they are used with singular verbs. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

His progress<\/em> was<\/strong> slow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measles<\/em> is<\/strong> a serious disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
