It may be helpful to know that uncountable nouns are also known as <strong>mass nouns.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some common examples of uncountable nouns:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>water, milk , rain<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>information, news, knowledge<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>rice, sugar, bread<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>luggage, furniture, cotton<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In most cases, they<strong> do not have a plural form<\/strong> and a <strong>singular verb<\/strong> is always used with uncountable nouns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>This <strong>furniture<\/strong> <em>looks<\/em> heavy.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>That<strong> information<\/strong> <em>is<\/em> useful.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>The <strong>news<\/strong><em> is <\/em>disturbing.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> We <strong>cannot <\/strong>use the indefinite articles<em> a\/an<\/em> <strong>alone<\/strong> with uncountable nouns. We can only use them when paired with other words to indicate the quantity or measurement of this noun such as <em>a lot of<\/em>, <em>a bottle of<\/em>, <em>a piece of<\/em>, <em>a bag of<\/em>, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><em>A carton of<\/em> milk.<\/td><td><em>Five cartons of<\/em> milk.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><em>A bottle of <\/em>wine.<\/td><td><em>Three bottles of <\/em>wine.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><em>A loaf of <\/em>bread.<\/td><td><em>Two loaves of<\/em> bread.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other expressions of quantity <\/strong>includes, <em>some<\/em>, <em>much<\/em>, <em>any<\/em>, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>She has <em>some<\/em> money.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Do you have <em>any <\/em>food left?\/Have you got <em>any <\/em>food left?<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>I don&#8217;t have <em>much <\/em>time to do my homework.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unlike countable nouns, uncountable nouns are for abstract ideas and concepts or physical objects that cannot be counted.
