Es por eso que hoy hablaremos del ap\u00f3strofe en ingl\u00e9s para que lo domines y no cometas el mismo error que la mayor\u00eda. <strong>El ap\u00f3strofe tiene dos funciones: marca posesi\u00f3n, y se usa en contracciones<\/strong> para indicar el lugar donde se han omitido las letras. Veamos c\u00f3mo usarlo correctamente.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reglas-de-ap-strofe-en-ingl-s-para-posesivos\"><strong>Reglas de ap\u00f3strofe en ingl\u00e9s para posesivos<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En el ingl\u00e9s ser\u00eda dif\u00edcil que los posesivos existieran sin ap\u00f3strofes. A continuaci\u00f3n te dejamos los tres usos diferentes del ap\u00f3strofe posesivo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Usa un ap\u00f3strofe + <strong><em>&#8220;s&#8221; (&#8216;s)<\/em><\/strong> para mostrar que una persona\/cosa posee o es miembro de algo. Por ejemplo:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Rachel<\/em><strong><em>&#8216;s<\/em><\/strong><em> ballet class. <\/em>\/ La clase de ballet de raquel<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Lisa<\/em><strong><em>&#8216;s<\/em><\/strong><em> car. <\/em>\/ El coche de Lisa<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Paul<\/em><strong><em>&#8216;s <\/em><\/strong><em>car.<\/em> \/ El coche de Pablo<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Las gu\u00edas de estilo var\u00edan cuando se trata de un nombre que termina en <em>&#8220;s&#8221;.<\/em> Incluso si el nombre termina en <em>&#8220;s&#8221;<\/em>, <strong>sigue siendo correcto agregar otra <em>&#8220;s&#8221;<\/em> para crear la forma posesiva.<\/strong> Tambi\u00e9n es aceptable agregar solo un ap\u00f3strofe al final de los sustantivos singulares que terminan en <em>&#8220;s&#8221;<\/em> para hacerlos posesivos.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Atticus<strong>&#8216; <\/strong>room. <\/em>\/ La habitaci\u00f3n de Atticus.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Atticu<strong>s&#8217;s<\/strong> sports team. <\/em>\/ Equipo deportivo de Atticus.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Usa un ap\u00f3strofe en ingl\u00e9s despu\u00e9s de la <strong><em>&#8220;s&#8221; (s&#8217;) <\/em><\/strong>al final de un sustantivo plural para mostrar posesi\u00f3n:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>My parents<strong>&#8216;<\/strong> bedroom. <\/em>\/ La habitaci\u00f3n de mis padres<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>The Smiths<strong>&#8216;<\/strong> lives. <\/em>\/ La vida de los Smith<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No es necesario agregar otra <em>&#8220;s&#8221; <\/em>al final de un sustantivo plural posesivo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Si un sustantivo plural no termina en <em>&#8220;s&#8221;<\/em>, agrega un ap\u00f3strofe + <em>&#8220;s&#8221;<\/em> para crear la forma posesiva.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>The children<strong>&#8216;s <\/strong>rooms. <\/em>\/ Las habitaciones de los ni\u00f1os.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>The tuna<strong>&#8216;s<\/strong> beds. <\/em>\/ Las camas de at\u00fan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Te dejamos m\u00e1s ejemplos de oraciones que muestran los diferentes usos del ap\u00f3strofe en ingl\u00e9s para posesivos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>Rome\u2019s <\/em><\/strong><em>backstreets are charming.<\/em> \/ Los callejones de Roma son encantadores.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>The <\/em><strong><em>princess\u2019s <\/em><\/strong><em>role has become less traditional. \/<\/em> El papel de la princesa se ha vuelto menos tradicional.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>I\u2019m going over to <\/em><strong><em>Harry\u2019s<\/em><\/strong><em> for tea tonight.<\/em> \/ Voy a ir a casa de Harry a tomar el t\u00e9 esta noche.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Is that <\/em><strong><em>Frank\u2019s <\/em><\/strong><em>camera? <\/em>\/ \u00bfEs esa la c\u00e1mara de Frank?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>My <\/em><strong><em>son\u2019s<\/em><\/strong><em> name is James.<\/em> \/ El nombre de mi hijo es James.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>Yesterday\u2019s<\/em><\/strong><em> weather was beautiful. <\/em>\/ El clima de ayer fue estupendo.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Por otro lado, cuando quieres mostrar que dos personas son due\u00f1as de algo, puede ser un poco complicado. Ya sea que hagas ambos posesivos o solo el final <strong>depende de la propiedad<\/strong>. Si ambas personas poseen el mismo art\u00edculo juntas, puede agregar el posesivo al final:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>Tom and Alice&#8217;s <\/em><\/strong><em>car.<\/em> \/ El auto de Tom y Alice.\u00a0 (Tanto Tom como Alice son due\u00f1os del auto).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>John and Jane&#8217;s<\/em><\/strong><em> trip.<\/em> \/ El viaje de John y Jane.&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>Darnell and Dylan&#8217;s <\/em><\/strong>open house. \/ Jornada de puertas abiertas de Darnell y Dylan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Sin embargo, si cada individuo posee versiones separadas del mismo tipo de art\u00edculo, entonces <strong>hay&nbsp;que poner ambos propietarios como posesivos.<\/strong> Por ejemplo, si Dave y Alice tienen un auto por separado, ser\u00eda:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em><strong>Alice&#8217;s<\/strong> and <strong>Dave&#8217;s<\/strong> cars<\/em>. \/ Los autos de Alice y Dave.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Debes tener en cuenta que cuando hay propietarios separados de los elementos, <strong>los elementos son plurales.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reglas del ap\u00f3strofe en ingl\u00e9s para las contracciones<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Un ap\u00f3strofe se usa en formas abreviadas de palabras para<strong> mostrar que se han omitido una o m\u00e1s letras. <\/strong>Las contracciones suelen ser formas abreviadas de verbos auxiliares. Las palabras que a menudo se escriben en forma contra\u00edda son:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>I am = <\/em><strong><em>I\u2019m<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>You are = <\/em><strong><em>you\u2019re<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>He is = <\/em><strong><em>he\u2019s<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>She is = <\/em><strong><em>she\u2019s<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>It is = <\/em><strong><em>it\u2019s<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>We are = <\/em><strong><em>we\u2019re<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>They are = <\/em><strong><em>they\u2019re<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de los pronombres personales, est\u00e1n las <strong>contracciones negativas<\/strong>, entre las m\u00e1s comunes est\u00e1n:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Do not = <\/em><strong><em>don\u2019t<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>Does not = <\/em><strong><em>doesn\u2019t<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>Cannot =<\/em><strong><em> can\u2019t&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>Should not = <\/em><strong><em>shouldn\u2019t<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>Could not = <\/em><strong><em>couldn\u2019t<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>Shall not = <\/em><strong><em>shan\u2019t&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>Will not = <\/em><strong><em>won\u2019t<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n podemos contraer verbos como<em> \u201chave\u201d <\/em>(tener), entre otros:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>I have = <\/em><strong><em>I\u2019ve<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>I had, I would, and I should = <\/em><strong><em>I\u2019d<\/em><\/strong><\/li><li><em>I will and I shall = <\/em><strong><em>I\u2019ll<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Las contracciones son informales y, por lo general, <strong>no son apropiadas para su uso en la redacci\u00f3n acad\u00e9mica.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recuerda:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Se usa la contracci\u00f3n <strong><em>\u2019s<\/em><\/strong> para los verbos <em>has<\/em> y&nbsp; is:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>She\u2019s <\/em><\/strong><em>seen that movie already (has). <\/em>\/ Ella ya ha visto esa pel\u00edcula.
