They can be used for both males and females.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>cousin<\/td><td>teacher<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>friend<\/td><td>doctor<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>student<\/td><td>spouse<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>chicken<\/td><td>horse<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example sentences:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Maria is my <em>cousin<\/em>. <em>She<\/em> is a <em>teacher<\/em>.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Vicente is my <em>friend<\/em>. <em>He<\/em> is a <em>doctor<\/em>.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Carlos is my neighbor. He is a <em>student<\/em>.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To make it clear, we can add the words <strong>male<\/strong> or <strong>female before these common nouns<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>She is not my girlfriend, she is just a <em>female<\/em> <strong>friend<\/strong>.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Vicente is a <em>male<\/em> <strong>doctor<\/strong>.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>She has five <em>female<\/em> <strong>cousins<\/strong>.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Neuter nouns<\/strong> refer to words for things that have no gender.
