It stretched across much of Eurasia and began on the open plains of Central Asia. In the 12th century, the region was home to nomadic groups led by khans, but everything changed under the leadership of Temujin, later known as Chinggis Khan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through strategic alliances, military innovation, and strict discipline, Chinggis Khan united the Mongol tribes and began a series of conquests that expanded the empire across China, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
