Typically, we use the present continuous to talk about the present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Firstly, present progressive is used for something that is happening&nbsp;<strong>at the moment of speaking<\/strong>:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Please be quiet. The baby <strong>is sleeping<\/strong>.<br>I<strong>&#8216;m<\/strong> just <strong>leaving<\/strong> work. I&#8217;ll be home in an hour.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Moreover, present progressive is used for something which is happening before and after a given&nbsp;<strong>time<\/strong>:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>At nine o\u2019clock we&nbsp;<strong>are <\/strong>usually<strong> watching&nbsp;<\/strong>our favourite TV program.<br>When I get home, my mom&nbsp;<strong>is making&nbsp;<\/strong>dinner in the kitchen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In addition, we can also use present continous for something which&nbsp;<strong>we think is temporary<\/strong>:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>John is at university. He<strong>\u2019s studying<\/strong>&nbsp;Management.<br>I<strong>\u2019m working<\/strong>&nbsp;in London for the next two months.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Additionally, it is used for something which is&nbsp;<strong>new&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>contrasts&nbsp;<\/strong>with a previous: state:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>These days&nbsp;most people&nbsp;<strong>are using&nbsp;<\/strong>email instead of writing letters.<br>What sort of clothes&nbsp;<strong>are <\/strong>teenagers<strong> wearing&nbsp;<\/strong>nowadays? What sort of music&nbsp;<strong>are <\/strong>they<strong> listening&nbsp;<\/strong>to?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Another use of present continuous tense is to show that something is changing, growing, or&nbsp;<strong>developing<\/strong>:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The children&nbsp;<strong>are growing&nbsp;<\/strong>quickly.<br>The climate&nbsp;<strong>is changing&nbsp;<\/strong>rapidly.<br>Your English&nbsp;<strong>is improving<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lastly, present progressive is used for something which happens&nbsp;<strong>again and again<\/strong>:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>It<strong>\u2019s <\/strong>always<strong> raining<\/strong>&nbsp;in London.<br>They&nbsp;<strong>are <\/strong>always<strong> arguing<\/strong>.<br>Philip is funny.
