To form, simply combine the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/phoneenglish.es\/blog\/2018\/02\/modal-continuous-modal-ing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">modal <\/a><\/strong>and present participle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>May and Might<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The modals may and might are used when expressing what might occur in the future. Both can be used to express actions in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/phoneenglish.es\/blog\/2017\/04\/will-and-going-to-for-prediction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">future<\/a><\/strong> or the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/phoneenglish.es\/blog\/2017\/08\/present-simple\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">present<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Present<\/strong><\/p><p>I <strong>might have<\/strong> some flour in the pantry.<\/p><p><strong>Future<\/strong><\/p><p>They <strong>may leave<\/strong> tomorrow.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>May and might function as modals such as can, will and should. Therefore, the same rules apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>No need to add \u2018s\u2019 to the third person singular.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Correct: He <strong>may<\/strong> <strong>attend<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Incorrect: He mays attend.<\/p><p>Correct: She <strong>might<\/strong> <strong>cry<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Incorrect: She mights cry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The negative form is: may \/ might + not.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>He <strong>may<\/strong> <strong>not attend<\/strong> the meeting.<\/p><p>She <strong>might not buy<\/strong> the book.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The question form is: may \/ might + subject. However, using might in forming questions is not very common.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Might<\/strong> she <strong>be<\/strong> hungry?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To make requests, May can be used with \u2018I\u2019 or \u2018we\u2019.
