(Apple is countable.)<br>I eat <em>bread<\/em> for breakfast every day. (Bread is uncountable.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Usage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You can use a\/an\/the with singular countable nouns.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I bought <strong>a <\/strong><em>car<\/em>. (Not I bought car.)<\/p><p>The ostrich laid <strong>an <\/strong><em>egg<\/em>.<br>Get <strong>the <\/strong><em>papers<\/em> on my table.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You cannot use a\/an\/the with uncountable nouns.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Sugar<\/em> is used in making soda.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>But you can use a + ___ + of<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>a<\/strong> <strong>bottle of<\/strong> <em>soda<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Generally, use (1) a definite article or (2) no article with plural nouns.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>1. I like <strong><em>the animals <\/em><\/strong>at the aquarium. I like <em><strong>animals<\/strong><\/em>.
