Indefinite pronouns are used to talk about people or things but not specifically saying who or what they are. Those with -body<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0\u2013one <\/strong><\/em>endings\u00a0are used for\u00a0people<\/strong> while those with -thing<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0endings are used for\u00a0things<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Everybody<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>wants to be happy.
\nNo one<\/strong><\/em> joined the singing contest.
\nAfter his eye surgery, he can see everything<\/strong><\/em> much clearly.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0singular verb\u00a0<\/strong>is used with an indefinite pronoun.<\/p>\n

Everybody\u00a0talks <\/strong>fast.
\nEverything\u00a0happens <\/strong>for a reason.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0plural pronoun <\/strong>is often used when referring back\u00a0<\/strong>to an indefinite pronoun.<\/p>\n

Everybody\u00a0<\/strong>cheered him on.\u00a0They\u00a0<\/strong>supported him during his race.
\nI will talk to\u00a0somebody<\/strong>.\u00a0They\u00a0<\/strong>have been waiting for my decision on this matter.<\/p>\n

To express a possessive<\/strong>, -‘s <\/strong><\/em>is<\/em> added\u00a0to an indefinite pronoun.<\/p>\n

She is talking to\u00a0somebody\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>friend.
\nAre these\u00a0anybody\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>shoes?<\/p>\n

In negative clauses<\/strong>, indefinite pronouns are used with\u00a0no-<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0as the\u00a0subject\u00a0<\/strong>instead of pronouns with any<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

Anybody didn\u2019t answer.<\/span>\u00a0>>\u00a0Nobody<\/strong>\u00a0answered.<\/p>\n

Nobody<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0no one\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>or\u00a0nothing<\/strong><\/em> is not used with another negative in a clause.<\/p>\n
