In the highlands of Scotland, there is the legend of a monster called Nessie living in Loch Ness.
Loch Ness is deep, freshwater and is close to the city of Inverness with an area of 56 km2 and a maximum depth of 240m.
It is said that this creature was a plesiosaur that escaped extinction. Nessie is huge, it has a long neck, a small head, two pairs of fins underwater propulsion and a tail.
Nessie was first seen in 565 when St. Columba, an Irish priest who was traveling through the Scottish Highlands and who spreaded Christianity among the Picts, saw the creature.
In 1939, the newspaper » Northern Chronic» published a story titled «An strange experience in Loch Ness» which told the story of two fishermen who claimed to have seen an animal. It was in this year when the Loch Ness monster was announced as we know it today.
Great job!
