In the 1970s, there was a shortage of workers in New Zealand. Thousands of people from the South Pacific islands of Tahiti, Tonga, Samoa, and Fiji moved there to work.
But then, police raided the Islanders’ homes who they suspect were illegally overstaying in the country. They were then deported back to their respective countries. Their families who were left behind in NZ were placed in government care homes.

– The truth that laws are very bad executed since the practice is very different because they are very discriminatory when it comes to putting them into practice

– In my country there are laws but with the corruption that there are covered these things.

– The police deport you to your Orifuge countries or leave them in a place to your luck. Do not simply simply or older or older.

I think it is an act that we have to reject because it´s something cruel. No one can be treated this way. So, we must report this type of situations.

Many immigrants come to Spain from some near country like Morocco or countries from Africa. They look for new opportunities because in their country they dont have good resources.
3. What can you say about the NZ government’s apology to the Islanders? How is this going to impact the Islanders?
In my opinion, it´s something that they should do. The first step to have this situation solved is and apology.
Some Islanders are going to accept this apology and forget all the things that they did, but, on the other hand, many Islanders are going to reject that apology because they won´t believe the NZ goverment.
4.What normally happens to people who illegally stay in your country when they are caught by the police? What about their families?
Sometimes they are reported to their countries again and other time they go to some specific place. Their families usually were placed in goverment care homes.
5. Given a chance, which country would you like to immigrate to?
A country that provide human rights and the offer the opportunity to create a new life there (for people who are new in that country).

The Franco’s government did not allowed have to enmigrants. People that were against Franco’s political system , have to enmigrar an other country.

The policy was known as the Dawn Raids. Police with dogs waking up Pacific Islanders in the early hours in the morning to deport them, but NZ’s Minister Jacinda Ardern has apologized to Pacific Islanders. She took part in a traditional Samoan forgiveness ceremony as part of her apology.
4. What normally happens to people who ellegally stay in your country when the are caught by the police? What about their families?
Nowadays Spain’s government try to relocated them, but some time are deported and put their children in government care homes. Most of over-stayer at this time are from Africa.
