According to the article, how many languages are spoken in the world nowadays?
In the article it is said that there are about 7000 languages around the world. Only some of them are considered world languages, like English, Spanish or Chinese. Others are only spoken in certain areas.
Is it practical to have just one language all over the world?
Yes, although I think that is important to keep the existing languages as part of the culture of every civilization, I also believe that would be very useful to have a global language understandable for everybody. I would simplify the relationships between foreign countries.
How many languages can you speak fluently? What languages would you like to learn?
I speak Spanish as my mother tongue, and I am also quite fluent in English. If I decided to study other languages I think that I would choose French or German. Learning Chinese would be also interesting, but I think that it would be a great challenge, mainly because of its different writing system.
