This is a very exciting topic!
As far as I know, in my country no driver-less vehicles tests were done. However, I think Toyota carried out a self-driving car test in Brussels last year. The leading countries in these tests are without a doubt China and USA.
In the long run, I am positive the autonomous vehicles will be a reality and it will have a positive impact on efficiency, safety (reducing unpredictable behaviors, etc.) and comfort. Of course, until all cars are self-driving (or most), it is necessary to have a human passenger to monitor the vehicle and all the variables around it (the computer/software may still not be able to respond effectively).
Good job answering the questions! Keep it up.
