Heart disease generally refers to conditions that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke. Other heart conditions, such as those that affect your heart’s muscle, valves or rhythm, also are considered forms of heart disease.
Recently, cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death.
Would you believe that there are people who are not at all at risk of developing heart diseases?

1) Coronary disease causes are multifactorial, so adopting some of the habits of Tsimane people may reduce the cardiovascular risk on the population of industrialized countries, but I would never say that coronary disease can be avoided just with that action.
2) Not really. I work from home in my desk most of the day, and I’m not very keen to do physical exercise. The sedentarism is one of the worst things for our cardiovascular system.
3) Not at this moment, fortunately.
4) Bad dietary behaviors like eating too many sugars or drinking alcohol. Also smoking, taking any type of drugs, and don’t making exercise.
5) I think that eating healthy food and doing exercise are the two main things we need to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system and prevent any coronary disease.

I definitely believe people lifestyle influent a lot on the kind of disease we do suffer throughout our lives, which is not limited to coronary disease but it includes all types of diseases.

Honestly I do try to have a healthy lifestyle, doing regular sports such as pilates, but also giving importance of what we usually eat. My menu always include vegetables and fruit and we try to avoid “fast food” as much as possible.
3. Is there anyone in your family suffering from heart disease? Talk about it.
My father in law suffered 10 years ago a stroke. Luckily his recovering was great and he does not have any sequels due to that stroke, nevertheless he went through a very long and painful recovery process.
4. What activities are really bad for your heart?
Smoking, unhealthy food such as fast food and definitely not doing regular sport are activities really bad for our heart
5. What can you do to look after your heart?
Again, having a healthy life is the best thing we can do to look after our heart
