1. What is an internship? Did you have an internship as a college student?
An internship is a working experience for new graduates to gain experience. It usually has a short duration. I had an intership when during my last year at college, so I had to find balance between my studies and this first work experience. It was a challenging year, but now I think that I learned a lot and it taught me how to priorize and organize my free time.
2. How important is an internship?
I think that is is a very important step in your career, because in order to become a professional in any industry you need a starting point. Internships provide you this starting point in which you can start working without having any previos experience. I see interships as an opportunity for recent graduates to know the business world.
3. What is your opinion on the unpaid nature of internship programs? Do you think it is fair to work for free?
I think that unpaid interships should illegal, and of course it is not fair. I always hear the idea that interns shouldn’t be paid because they know anything and the company takes the risk of teaching them, but from my experience I see that the reality is that all these interns do a great job and help the company to reach its goals. I can understand that interns are paid a low salary, but I can’t support the idea of working for free.
