The world is overwhelmingly shocked with a pandemic that no one had ever foreseen. Critical thinking is defined by the Oxford Learner’s Dictionary as the process of analyzing information in order to make a logical decision about the extent to which you believe something to be true or false. It is perceived to be essentially needed, especially to those who are holding an important role in the society. As we face adversities of different forms, we are bombarded by how to make a right decision or which is the right thing to do during a crucial time. Critical thinking helps us to carefully deal with the complexity of the situation.

1. Critical thinking is about assessing if what you are being told is really true, or if it really fits you.
2. The 5-steps method helps people to develop their critical thinking. It includes asking yourself about what are you being told, while also looking for additional information elsewhere and other points of view.
3. A lot of people is trying to survive in society, they have interests and it is very common that they reached the point of “at all costs”. Also, a lot of people is desperate, and are an easy target for frauds. Critical thinking is essential to spot the interest of the people and if something is good for you.
4. All the time. For example, if I have to buy something expensive, first I ask myself if I really need it. Also look for information about the features of the product and how helpful could be. In the end, I perform a micro-research before pushing the “Buy” button.
5. It is essential for knowing what can benefit you, and also what can harm you (even if it looks really good)
6. A lot of benefits that includes avoiding frauds, knowing yourself and your necessities. As the downside, maybe that you need to train it and invest time in it.
7. The hardest was to try and stay at the university (job) or to switch to the private company. I had to assess and visualize the consequences in my life of working at the university versus the same on a private company. I assessed salary, job benefits, social life, job location, stress and other things. In the end, the winner were the job that could better improve my career at long term.
