Throughout the years, governments and employers have been spending loads of effort to improve employees’ work-life balance.
One of the ideas is the four-day workweek that has been around for years even before the pandemic started. It is in which workers work fewer numbers of hours or days while still being paid the same amount. This concept is starting to gain international attention. In fact, some countries have started experimenting with it, one of which is Iceland.

1. In Spain we are used to five working days and free weekends, being able to balance to four working days and three holidays at week, would improve the reconciliation with personal life.
2. Productivity remained the same or improved in the majority of workplaces.
3. I think that productivity would increase because people would be more motivated to work, but I wonder if in the longer term productivity could decrease again.
4. I only see advantages: job satisfaction, stress reduction, great personal balance, better health, great motivation…
5. I don’t think so. We are used to a different work model and it’s very difficult to change the mentality of companies.
