There are people who do not feel safe staying in normal accommodations such as hotels. They prefer to stay in a homey environment where they can interact with the same people in a familiar setting. For these people, homestay is a good option.

What is your opinion on homestays as a tourist accommodation?
I think it could be both cheap and enriching experience if all goes as expected, otherwise you could find yourself living with some undesirable roommates and their terrible habits.

Are homestays a popular type of accommodation in your city/country? Why or why not?
I guess here in Spain they’re not that popular since we value our privacy as well as others’. However, you can stay with others in a hostel during your holidays.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of homestays?
As stated earlier, the main advantage could be the possibility to meet some interesting people, but there’s a lot of cons that you should be aware of like lack of privacy, putting up with others’ unhealthy habits and also there’s always a chance of being robbed while sleeping.

Have you tried living in a homestay before? If yes, talk about your experience. If not, would you like to?
The nearest experience to a homestay was staying in a hostel for a couple of weekends and it was really funny because there were some weird characters there, all of them harmless, I enjoyed that but I don’t think I could share room with others again.

What’s your most and least favorite type of accommodation and why?
To be honest, the best accommodation is staying in a comfy room hotel with good views of the city or village that you’re visiting. On the other hand, the worst accommodation could be either a hostel or a homestay
because you can’t know what you’re going to find there.

What are the good and bad things about living with other people?
I guess you have to get along with your roommates in order to have a nice accommodation experience, then you can even share great moments and stories with them. Bad things could involve others using your stuff or eating your food share located in the freezer, that could put me on my nerves.
