Getting fired is such a terrible experience. It puts a worker in a difficult situation. It will leave someone with a lot of questions, especially when they know they were doing well in their job. Now that a lot of companies have also removed employees and have stopped hiring, it would be more difficult to recover and get another job.

For some employees at one company, they were caught by surprise during a conference call. They were left helpless, clueless, and jobless right before the holidays.

If I were fired this way surely I will be very angry and sad.
The CEO could handled this situation by notice the employees by a letter a month before.
There are a lot of reason to fire employees. When the company for example lose some market rate reduces the number of employees. Also, when employees make a lot of mistakes, thy could be fired.
I lomos a friend who got fired because his contract with the company was finalised. The RH has to notice him when he asked her about his contract renovation.
When I were working, my company notice the employees before achieving their contract 15 or 30 days before depending the contract of each one.
I can’t reply to this question because I don’t know any one whose got fired because the pandemic, but I think there are a lot company that didn’t survive during or after the pandemic.
