Most of the time, we can tell how people feel simply by looking at their faces. Our faces show a lot of expressions. With the COVID-19 pandemic, this non-verbal communication has been hindered by the mandatory use of face masks.

In Afghanistan, however, it is not the use of face mask that conceals their women’s faces but the mandatory use of hijab that is part of Taliban’s new order for women to conceal their faces in public.

1. What is your opinion on this decree?
From my point of view, it violates the right of freedom and the dignity of Afghan women imposing a code dress.

2.What is the punishment for the violation of this decree?
Male guardians are the responsible for women and they could be imprisoned during three days if they receive repeated warnings or they even could be sent to the court for further punishment

3. What other decrees issued by the Taliban inhibit women’s rights?
There are severals edicts restricting women’s freedoms, for example women are forbidden to travel alone and they only have the right to be married but they don’t have the right to receive an education

4. How did the international community fail Afghan women according to some women’s rights activists?
Activist consider that the international community does not recognize the urgency of the situation. They warned about the possibility of this situation if Taliban would return to power, but the world isn’t doing nothing to help them
