What do you think about upcycling clothes?
Upcycling clothes is a great initiative within the whole concept of circular economy, that is, recycling materials and treat them again as raw materials to manufacture others so they can be given a second use. We must embrace these kind of sustainable initiatives globally to avoid harmful practices to the environment.

How often do you go shopping for clothes?
As far as I can remember I usually go shooping once a year at most, furthermore, I’ve always go shopping reluctantly.

What are the advantages of textile upcycling?
As I wrote above, material upcycling is about giving a second use, in this case is applied to textile. Such practices avoid wasting so much water and producing a lot of waste that have to be treated afterwards.
Moreover, textile upcycling still produces high quality clothes as traditional clothing factories.

What do you usually do with your old, damaged, or worn-out clothes?
It’s hard to say, since I usually give them a second use by transforming them into rags. My clothing lasts several years so when I recycle them I recycle little, either by giving them to underprivileged people or taking them to a recycling spot with other materials.

Is fast fashion and textile waste an issue in your country?
I guess it’s not an issue nowadays because you don’t hear any news regarding this subject, however it seems that people are not really into upcycling clothes, maybe due to lack of information or initiatives.

Your insights are on point. Good work on your answers for this lesson’s discussion questions!
