Waiting for a wound to heal could be a little stressful. But taking the plaster off to check it every so often isn’t a good thing.

So, three Polish students thought it would be a good idea to invent a plaster that has a sensor. This tells you and your doctor exactly how the would is healing.

In my opinion this is an example of something simple and useful. The key of successful is to find something people need

The best thing is that you don’t need to bother the patient and you can avoid the risk of infection
The bad thing could be that probably this plaster won´t be delivered for everyone around the world , only rich countries

I think it is a very good idea. These guys has found a problem (the bad heal of a wound due to the continuous removals of the plaster) and they provided a solution.
What do you think could be the good and bad things about the smart plaster?
The clear good thing is that the wound might heal faster. A bad thing is surely the cost, because it will be clearly more expensive than a simple plaster, and I don’t know if the savings for the good thing mentioned before will compensate this cost. I guess it is better for the more serious wounds.

Would you be interested to use this plaster? Why or why not?
If I have a serious wound, definitely yes. On the contrary, for mild wounds it is not so critical, and I really use to heal very well my wounds.

1. I was surprised because I’d always thought that the reason of take off the plaster frequently was in order to avoid infection, and not on the contrary. Being now aware of the reason I’ve change my point of view and I guess is a brilliant idea and could be interesting having a a product with that features.
2. If the plaster works correctly it could be great and will avoid painful to the patients, but I think in case of an error or if doesn’t works well and doesn’t emit any type of signal or warning that there is a failure, it can cause the opposite effect and may already be too late to heal the wound.
3. I’ve never needed a plaster but I think it could be useful to healing wounds, specially deep wounds or wounds that require a long time to heal.

What is your opinion about this smart plaster? I think smart plaster is a good invention but at the same time I would like to understand how it works. So propably it needs to be connected to a device and probably more expensive. Usually Public Health has not so many resources.

Would you be interested to use this plaster? Why or why not? I am not sure if I would be intereseted. I need to have the complete information. It could be useful in some ocasions but at the same time probably more heavy and it cannot be comfortable when practicing sports.

1. I think that the smart plaster is a very good idea. You don’t need to remove the plaster to see how the wound is. It’s very comfortable, especially for children.
2. Good things: it’s comfortable, easy to wear, precise control of the wound.
Bad things: more studies are needed to confirm its viability. Whether it is effective will be seen when it is in use on many patients. And maybe the price: the price has not been confirmed but I think it will be high. The use will be interesting in some wounds due to the price.
3. Yes, I would be interested to use this plaster but depending on the wound. If I have a wound that needs to be monitored, I think that the smart plaster is a good option. In case of a simple wound I think that it is not necessary.
