Venezuela is famously known for its beautiful people. But, like any other country, Venezuela struggles with poverty and citywide housing shortage. The Tower of David is a glimpse of some issues that the country is facing.

1. In my opinion, poverty is a serious problem, regardless of whether it manifests itself on a small or large scale. I think it is more common in big cities, especially in countries vulnerable to climate change, armed conflict or labour exploitation.

2. The government often provides social grants, but sometimes these are not enough to guarantee beneficiaries’ access to decent housing. Besides, the government sometimes tries to limit rent prices in certain cities to avoid housing bubbles.

3. Given that those who suffer the most during an economic recession are those who have the least, one option would be to encourage public spending to maintain an adequate standard of living for the most disadvantaged.
