The great challenge is stability, for this it is necessary for European countries to harmonize fiscal and social policies

I don’t really remember, I only know that the day after the euro was introduced all the prices went up, the euro – peseta exchange rate was theoretically €1 166 pesetas, the reality reflected in the prices was €1 100 pesetas.
3. Why do you think the United Kingdom decided to keep the British pound when they joined the EU?
The United Kingdom has never had a real policy to integrate into the Union, I think they live in the past, remembering their empire with nostalgia.
4. What is your opinion of having one currency?
I think it is a good idea, but it is also necessary to have a harmonized fiscal policy.

I remember some ads informing about the currency change and the procedures required to have the cash updated. I also remember that both these ads and the authorities, assured that prices will not be increased. Time showed that statement was not true.

I’m not sure about their reasons, but I guess that they were based on what they thought that was the national interest. Probably they thought that economy would not take advantage of the currency change.

I think that having an unique currency in the UE is advantageous for the community. It allows having a stronger currency capable to compete internationally with other strong currencies.
