Advertisements can subtlely convey a message to the viewers. A veteran South African politician said, “Adverts create a role model that people look up to, even mimic and try to be like.” Do you think the government should do something to regulate ads?

I completely agree with that the advert is the most influential media among the consumers. It not only can be seen on TV but also at street on the billboards and in the magazines. Not everyone sees movies or read books but it is certain that the people will have to walk by the street and, in one way or another, the contain of the ads will penetrate into them.
I think that the problem of stereotyping comes from the education received since the earliest stages of each one’s life and it is very difficult for the publishers makes an adult change his/her mind. Besides, the advert companies can be afraid of being the first ones to introduce the change and it being adversely seen by the consumers. The publicity market is a very aggresive one and a little mistake can imply in losing their market share.
The ads influence mainly in kids and youths because they are not mature enough to realise that the only goal of the advert is try to make people spend money. It is extremely easy makes them think that they need a special gadget to be cooler than the rest or they have to wear a different clothes to be fashionable.
So far, you are doing a very good job expressing your ideas through writing. Here is one sentence where you can make some minor changes in to improve it:
It not only can
beseen on TV but also at street onthebillboards and inthemagazines.> It is not only seen on TV but also on the streets on billboards and in magazines.
Thanks for all your efforts.
