In the late 1800’s, many Americans held Chinese workers responsible for driving down wages and economic woes. This antagonism towards Chinese workers resulted to violence by the people and acts of injustices perpetrated by the government.

1. Share your thoughts on what you’ve learned from this video.
Basically that Countries only want emigrants for doing the worst job they have, like a kind of “new slavery”… and, even though, most of the population think foreign people steal their jobs, jobs that they don’t want to do it. It’s very sad.
2. What was the Chinese Exclusion Act and why was it created? Who were exempted from this act?
Was a law created in 1882 and that explicitly exclude emigration based in nationality, in this case the Chinese nationality-
3. Who was Chae Chan Ping and what happened to him upon his return to San Francisco?
He was a Chinese emigrant that worked very hard in the EEUU for long year. He travelled to China to visit his family and when he try to came back to de EEUU they rejected his entry in the Country even though he has all the papers ok.
4. What is the Scott Act? Why did the U.S. Supreme court rule against Ping’s argument?
A law approved by Former President of the EEUU in order to reject all emigrant that had papers ok o re-entry to the country invalidating them..
5. What are recently passed immigration laws in your country? Do you find them reasonable?
I don’t know exactly, our laws are the same that the European Laws, I think there are more or less reasonable, they try to ban illegal emigration because of the exploitation of the mafias, and so forth… but is very difficult because there are a lot of people that are in very bad condition in his countries and want a better lives for them and their children.
