What is your opinion on this measure set by the Venice local government?

Based on the comments of Venice being overcrowded, I can understand it as far as they could be trying to tailor a tourism model based on higher quality instead of quantity.

What reasons do they have for imposing this measure?

The city can not afford to control and provide a comfortable stay to such a huge amount of tourists.

How can this affect businesses?

I expect little or nothing. Even more, if it affects in any way, it will be for the better. People with higher budget could be tempted to book their holidays there.

Being the city full packed, the businesses could afford to ask for higher prices, not only to compensate the higher quality dedication, but also for the effect of feeling part of an elite.

Do you agree with the price they set simply for entering the city? Would this discourage tourists from going to Venice? Why or why not?

I agree, not only to provide better quality, to be able to provide control and safety to locals as well as foreigners, but also to compensate the taxes proportional part of the taxes: hospitals, infrastructure, cleaning services, etc,..

As stated in the previous question, a higher quality model and the scarceness of tourist seats available could impact possibility on the prices.

Are there similar touristic sites in your country that have been degraded because of over-tourism? Talk about it/them.

Spain has an economy bound to tourism in a really high degree. This summer I’ve been traveling across the North coast, and a lot of places were really overcrowded, even in COVID-19 times. Mostly, there were people who could afford to pay a little bit more to have a better experience.

The real problem for me is related to alcohol-based tourism and people practicing balconing. They are mainly young European citizens attracted by the low prices of alcohol in Spain and they really disturb our public services: health system workers or the police. Even worst, when we talk about Magaluf and pre-COVID times…

Great going with your writing practice. You are doing a really good job so far.

One thing you can improve a bit on is word choice. Take a look here:

Based on the comments of Venice being overcrowded, I can understand it as far as they could be trying to tailor a tourism model based on higher quality instead of quantity.

>Based on the comments of Venice being overcrowded, I can understand it as long as they try to tailor a tourism model drew on higher quality instead of quantity.

* Tip: Never use the same word twice in a sentence.
