The question is, is eating meat good or bad? Meat is a staple in many diet and is a great source of protein and other important nutrients needed by our body. However, It’s a highly controversial food because some people believe that eating meat is unhealthy, unnecessary and it may even kill us.

Yes, it summarizes benefits and risks of eating meat and mention vegetarians as an alternative, removing meat in their diet. It also describes benefits and risks about this green option. The video explains that among the evolution, human being starting eat meat since 1.5 million ago but also added fruits and other type of vegetables supplementary to their diet. There’s a theory that eating meat made our brains larger among the evolution. There are evidence that processed meat is carcinogenic and it’s necessary to avoid this type of meat. I agree with that.
Vegetarians replace meat with veggies and other products from vegetables to obtain essential nutrients such as fats, sugars and carbohydrates. Proteins can also be obtained from vegetables. However, vegetables are not a main source of proteins and it is not easy to obtain the daily requirements of this essential nutrient for our organism.

Eating meat provide us of the necessary quantity of proteins and other supplementary nutrients such as vitamins and minerals. However, it has been confirmed that processed meat are carcinogenic. This type of meat is not healthy and it is necessary to avoid it as much as possible. Eating too much meat in general can also lead into cardiac or immune diseases. I think healthy meat (not processed) is necessary in our diet but in equilibrated quantity.

It can be possible if you can obtain the same daily required quantity and quality of nutrients from other type of food. Not quantity but also quality of nutrients. We are built by muscles. Creatine is a nutrient necessary for micro and macro muscle regeneration. Muscles are obviously used for move our body. But protect our bones or internal organs from many types of traumatisms or mechanical injuries. They are also a store of glycogen, the main source of glucose which is the fuel of our cells. Main source of creatine is…. Meat. A simple 150g of beak steak provides a great quantity of creatine. We can obtain it from many types of fish like salmon of course. Vegetables, doesn’t contain significant quantities of creatine. Spinach or beet contains a minimum quantity. Vegetarians need to obtain this nutrient from other food. I love eating meat. But healthy meat, not processed meat.

I practice exercise about 4-5 days per week accompanied by healthy food. I enjoy eating fruits, milkshakes, pasta, eggs, vegetables and all type of healthy food in general. I like fish but I love meat indeed. I think a great beef is a lovely pleasure for all senses. If you taste mediterranean diet like in Spain, you will love it and will remain healthy for sure.

Not healthy at all. Processed meat has been identified as carcinogenic according to the WHO.

Well, I agree with part of the video. It is true that with current access to supplements, ingestion of meat is not necessary to obtain all the nutrients the body needs, but I do not think that every type of meat is bad for you. I agree with the mentioned part about the meat being key to the development and evolution of human beings, and with the part regarding the carcinogenic effects of processed meat as well, but I think it is much healthier to have a piece of unprocessed meat, such a chicken breast, or a steak, than to eat ultra-processed food mimicking meat.

It also gives you B12, a vitamin that, otherwise, should be obtained by supplementing your diet, and that it is very important for your brain. No, I cannot. I really enjoy a good piece of meat and a good Iberic ham. I think the protein and fat provided by meat help you to remain full longer and give you the necessary energy to go with your day and job.

I mostly enjoy every kind of meat, although I try to avoid ultra-processed meat when possible. I think it is not healthy to eat a great amount of meat every single day, but if you maintain a healthy variety of vegetables, fish, fruit and meat, it should not be a problem.

As I mentioned before, I try to avoid it because I think it is full of additives that can cause cancer and other types of health issues, like allergic reactions or microbiota disruption.
