In my opinion, I am sure that the latest deal reached in the EU is historic because it is the first time all EU countries reach an agreement from an economic perspective. Indeed, the EU has learnt the mistakes made in the previous economic crisis in 2008. Therefore, the EU members will receive money in order to tackle the problems caused by COVID-19 pandemia.

As far as Spain is concerned, it is logical that the countries which have deeply suffered the consequences of the coronavirus receive a bigger percentage of the recovery fund than those countries where the impact has been less lethal. However, I agree that the EU apply some conditions to the countries that are going to be funded.

From my perspective, the search of the Spanish part of these funds should be proportional to the rate of coronavirus cases. Moreover, these funds should be invested in the health and business sector.

Finally, it is highly likely that the impact on the Spanish economy is going to be the worst of the last decades because Spain basically depends on the tourism that has been hit deeply by the pandemia. From my point of view, the Spanish unemployment rate will skyrocket during these winter once the ERTE’s funds are going to run out of money.
