Vocabulary Questions:
1. What does ”to rise in value” mean? “Buying property usually guarantees your investment will rise in value.” Use this phrase in your own sentence.

To rise in value I think it means the same as “to increase their value”.

For example if I buy a classic car, it’s a good investment because it will increase it value over the years, well if it’s in a good state and it doesn’t damage it will rise in value

2. What does ”to play something” mean? “If you have a lot of extra cash, you can play the world property market.” Use this phrase in your own sentence.

if you have extra cash you can also play the stocks market, but the issue is how to get extra cash. If I had extra cash I would do so many things, as travelling,

3.What is a “hidden cost”, “I don’t like all the hidden costs involved in buying a property.”? Use this phrase in a sentence.

I understand hidden costs as the extra costs that comes later: house insurance, taxes. In spain also in order to get the mortatge we need the services of notary, thats also is an extra cost.

Discussion Questions:
1. Do you agree or disagree to this: “Property is one of the best investments you can make.”? Explain your opinion.
Yes I completely agree. It will depend on the law and the how it will evolve the area of the property you are buying, for instance if in 10 years there will be a train across your house, that will decrease the value so it’s not a good investment.

2. Knowing that “Places like Dubai and other areas of the Gulf are good places to buy at the moment.”, would you buy properties if you had the money? Why or why not?

I have never been in Dubai and its far away from my place so it makes me afraid of investing in an unknown place… but If woul go there on a trio, understand the market, the culture and even I met people from there or living there I would think about it.
3. Do you know some people who have made a lot of money from investing in properties? Talk about him/her/them.

I have a friend that invested in 3 properties 4 years ago, he didn’t make a lot of money yet but for sure he will make money in 10 years.

4. Is it common in your country for people to have more than one property under their name? Why or why not?
