What is Good Business?

Often times, we have this notion that most corporations operate in unjust and corrupt ways. Are there ways to make any business good?

The Golden Child Syndrome

We are used to thinking of many of the psychological problems of adulthood arise from a lack of affection in our early years. We grow mentally weak because somewhere in the past, we were not given the necessary love and care that we needed. Indeed, it’s difficult not to have been loved by one’s parents, but there’s a real challenge too in having been loved too much, which is regarded as ‘the golden child syndrome.’ Golden children suffer from the immense burden of expectation placed on their shoulders by their parents.

The Language of Lying

How do we recognize deception? When a person looks you in the eye, does that mean he is being truthful? When one stutters, does that mean he is telling a lie?

Is the Death Penalty Ever Moral?

C1 – Advanced

Capital punishment or death penalty is a practice whereby a person is killed by the state as a punishment for a crime.

Supporters of the death penalty say it is an important tool for sustaining law and order, inhibits crime, and costs less than life imprisonment.

Detractors of capital punishment say it is not a disincentive to committing crime. They say life sentence is a more severe and less expensive punishment than death.

Are there circumstances under which a murderer deserves the death penalty? In other words, should capital punishment be abolished or not?

  2. Which is worse, life imprisonment or the death penalty?
  3. Do you think the victim’s family should be able to choose the method of execution?
  4. Is the death penalty a deterrent to violent crime?

Is This the Safest Place in the World?

Climate change is a hotly debated topic in many nations across the world. For some, the impact of this phenomenon is something to be seriously dealt with. This is why a group of concerned individuals built a special vault in order to prepare for climate change and it’s consequences.

When a Night Owl Lives Like an Early Bird

Do you always get a good night sleep or is it always a struggle to have one? Well, we’ve got our own circadian rhythm to blame. This cycle which is also known as the “body clock” harmonizes other vital organs as it regulates many physiological processes such as when we need to sleep, rise and eat.  Being a night owl however lets us function differently in our society and can take its toll.

Narcissism

Narcissism is the extreme interest and admiration in oneself.

We are living in a modern world where people rely much on technology and machines. This only means that competition is also rapidly tougher than before. As competition rises, individualism occurs along with it. Therefore, if we talk about teamwork nowadays, it is almost as impossible as climbing the Himalayas Mountain.

Everyone knows that teamwork is the key to any organization’s success and challenges are dealt with more easily when two or more heads are taking part, but teamwork is a challenge in itself. It requires effective communication and humility towards a common goal.
