The Golden Child Syndrome

We are used to thinking of many of the psychological problems of adulthood arise from a lack of affection in our early years. We grow mentally weak because somewhere in the past, we were not given the necessary love and care that we needed. Indeed, it’s difficult not to have been loved by one’s parents, but there’s a real challenge too in having been loved too much, which is regarded as ‘the golden child syndrome.’ Golden children suffer from the immense burden of expectation placed on their shoulders by their parents.

Is the Death Penalty Ever Moral?

Capital punishment or death penalty is a practice whereby a person is killed by the state as a punishment for a crime.

Supporters of the death penalty say it is an important tool for sustaining law and order, inhibits crime, and costs less than life imprisonment.

Detractors of capital punishment say it is not a disincentive to committing crime. They say life sentence is a more severe and less expensive punishment than death.

Are there circumstances under which a murderer deserves the death penalty? In other words, should capital punishment be abolished or not?
