What do you think of stores selling out-of-date food?
I think that it could be a way to avoid wasting food but groceries must take into account the number of days that could have passed since the expiry date of the products, since it’s not the same to sell something near its expiration date as selling it when it have passed two weeks from then.

Do you think this is a solution to reduce food waste and hunger?
There’s no groceries like these in Europe since its food regulation forbids selling out-of date products, but on the other hand there are plenty initiatives to avoid throwing food, like selling last-minute food on a restaurant, that is, they sell its menu with a cheaper price when they are near to close the restaurant every day. Another initiative that should be taken into count is to plan what are you going to eat for the week, so this way you could avoid wasting both money and food.

Do you think expired food is edible and safe to consume?
I guess that the right question that has to be done is if an out-of-date product is safe to be consumed, then what’s the purpose of dating a product? Maybe expiry dates should be more accurate in order to preserve both consumer’s health and product’s trustworthiness.

What do you usually do with food past its expiration date?
First of all, I check if it smells or has a doubtful colour. Then, if it looks nice, it could be still edible. Unfortunately, when I try to do this often it’s too late and I have to throw food, which is something that I don’t like at all.
